The Federated Philatelic Clubs of Southern California is APS
Chapter 246 -- a 50-year member of the American Philatelic Society. It is made up of local stamp clubs
and local chapters of national societies.
The Federated Philatelic Clubs of Southern California is an IRS 501(c)(4) not-for-profit organization.
The Federation sponsors the annual SESCAL stamp exhibition, now in its 74th year. One of the features of the show's annual awards banquet is the presentation of the Federation's Distinguished Service Award. The Federation's Exemplary Service Award, although rarely awarded, is also presented at SESCAL.
The area encompassed by the Federation is almost 12,000 square miles and extends from San Luis Obispo at the north 260 miles to San Diego at the south and 90 miles to the Riverside area at the east. At the present time the Federation has 21 members, all philatelic organizations.
Officers of the Federation are members of those clubs/chapters. If your stamp club is located in the southern California area, is not on this list and you feel it should consider becoming an FPCSC member, contact the Federation President for information. The dues are $10.00 per year. That helps cover the cost of this website and the The Philatelic Review. In order to better communicate with our member clubs, back issues of The Philatelic Review are available on the website. Member clubs supply information about their successful activities to be published in The Philatelic Review. The Philatelic Review is normally published in digital format twice a year as new information from the clubs becomes available.
Visit our Sister Organization, the Council of Northern California Philatelic Societies.
NOTE: The office of President-Elect no longer exists. It had been vacant for over a decade. A motion was made and passed unanimously at the 2010 meeting to eliminate this office.
The Federation has become aware that an individual who is not an officer of the Federation is communicating with SESCAL vendors. The individual claims to be a Federation officer and demands that the third party vendor stop using the name SESCAL and stop doing business with SESCAL. The individual uses the following e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org. The individual also uses the following postal address: 9854 National Boulevard, #171, Los Angeles, CA 90034. Neither address is authorized by the Federation. Based on prior communications where Wes Robbins has used the foregoing postal address, we believe Wes Robbins is the person who has sent unauthorized communications to third party vendors. Mr. Robbins has also used the following e-mail addresses to misrepresent himself as an officer of the Federation and for sending unauthorized communications to Federation members: email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org. Mr. Robbins is not an officer of the Federation.
The Federation disavows communications you may have received from persons using the foregoing addresses and urges you to disregard them. The only persons authorized to act on behalf of the Federation are listed below with e-mail addresses.
All authorized SESCAL Committee Members are listed on the website Committee Page which is: http://www.sescal.org/committee.html
Because the individual could change addresses, you are urged to disregard all messages and requests for information regarding Federation affairs that purport to be from the Federation or one of its officers unless it emanates from one of the authorized e-mail addresses and lists the authorized postal address for reply. The only authorized postal address for the Federation is: P.O. Box 6536, Ventura, CA 93006. The only authorized Federation email is email@example.com
Mr. Robbins claims membership in the Federation via membership in "The Stamp Album Society." On 14 October 2018, the Federation member clubs voted to cancel any affiliation with and to remove the "The Stamp Album Society" for cause i.e. deceitful misrepresentation by its President, Wes Robbins, claiming to be Secretary of the Federation.
If you feel you have been a victim of his scams or if you wish to speak to a Federation officer regarding the communications from Mr. Robbins or others using the unauthorized addresses, please contact the President of the Federation, John Weigle, or any of the other officers listed above.
The table below provides basic information about each club, including where and when the member clubs meet and a phone or mail contact for further information. Those clubs that are APS Chapters have their Chapter number included in italics following their name. If a club has an e-mail contact or a web site, links are provided in the rightmost column. If the local chapter of a national society is a Federation member, and the parent society has a web site, then a link to the society's web site is provided (leftmost column.)
