SESCAL 2011
APS Educational Course
"Pressing Issues" by Wayne Youngblood.

solar spectrum

For the third year, the American Philatelic Society
will be offering an educational course in Southern California.

This two-day course, Pressing Issues, will be taught by Wayne Youngblood immediately prior to the show on Wednesday and Thursday, October 12 and 13. This will take place in the Catalina D room at the show hotel.

The course covers the four printing types (intaglio, photogravure, letterpress and offset) in detail, as well as shows collectors how to effectively distinguish between them. The course also will enable collectors to understand plate varieties and diagnose the causes of most errors, freaks and oddities. This course has no prerequisites. Although appropriate for newer collectors, it has enough information to challenge the more advanced collector.

The Philatelic Society of Los Angeles is graciously sponsoring this course in memory of long-time member A. L. "Toby" Tobias.

Thanks to the generosity of the PSLA the fee for this course has been sharply reduced. The early registration fee is $20 for APS Members and $35 for Non-members; the registration fee after September 28 is $35 for APS Members and $50 for Non-members.

If you have any questions, please contact
Gretchen Moody via e-mail or phone 814-933-3810.

Registration and prepayment of the fee is mandatory.
Further details and a preregistration form are available
on the American Philatelic Society website
