Claude C. Ries Chapter of the
American First Day Cover Society
25th Anniversary Cover
While SESCAL 2009 is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, the Claude C. Ries Southern California Chapter #48 of the American First Day Cover Society is celebrating its own 25th Anniversary.
A special Chapter 25th Anniversary Cover and cancel have been designed by Ries Chapter member, Mario Cruz. The Ries Chapter’s “California Sun” logo is boldly illustrated on the front of the cover. The back of the cover contains a picture and biography of Claude C. Ries, the namesake of the club chapter. Claude was a well-known cachetmaker and decorated World War II veteran who passed away in 1984.
The chapter’s logo is also illustrated in the “25th Anniversary Station” cancel,
along with the dates, “Oct. 9-11, 2009”.
The Ries Chapter 25th Anniversary covers will be sold for $3 each and 3 for $7.
They may be purchased at the Ries Chapter Information Table at SESCAL 2009,
